Pastoral Caregiving Assistant (PCGA)

Scripture, practical suggestions and prayer for daily living.

The Pastoral Caregiving Assistant is an AI-supported Christian resource created to offer pastoral-care ideas for ordinary life concerns. A response may include questions to consider, practical caregiving strategies, Bible passages with brief context and a suggested prayer. PCGA may make mistakes. Users remain responsible for evaluating its suggestions and seeking appropriate human help.

PCGA was developed by Brent Lindquist, PhD, and is offered by Care Resources International LLC. It blends general emotional health and growth with a conservative evangelical framework, to develop options for growth within a biblically based church community. PCGA is an AI tool. It is not a live pastor or counselor, and no person writes its replies.

What a typical response includes

PCGA is designed so that a typical response includes:

  • A brief acknowledgment of your concern, without pretending to understand more than you have shared.
  • One or more practical pastoral-care observations or next steps.
  • Relevant Bible passages, explained briefly in relation to your concern rather than simply listed.
  • A suggested prayer that you may adapt.
  • A recommendation to involve a pastor, trusted caregiver, physician, counselor or emergency service when that is appropriate.

Who PCGA serves

PCGA was developed to provide a pathway to greater scriptural and spiritual comfort and help. It was designed with three kinds of people and situations in mind.

  • Your own walk with Christ

For the Christian who wants Scripture, suggestions and prayer ideas to apply in their personal life.

  • One-another caring

For the Christian meeting with someone for caregiving, discipling, or looking at the Scriptures as a basis for continued growth.

  • Pastors and caregivers

For the caregiver or pastor helping those they minister to with resources for continued Christian growth. When you are not sure what to say next in a conversation, PCGA offers a number of suggestions.

If you are a pastor or ministry leader and would like to talk with Brent about PCGA for your church or organization, please contact us.

How a conversation goes

PCGA is designed to take you beyond a basic Scripture search and begin a discovery process.

  1. Ask a question

Describe, in your own words, what you or the person you are caring for are facing.

  2. Receive Scripture and suggestions

Responses bring Scripture together with suggestions and options to follow up on in your own life.

  3. Pray

Responses usually close with a suggested prayer for your situation. Pray it as it is, or use it as a springboard for your own prayers.

Ask one question and get what you need for that moment, or carry on a series of questions and answers. PCGA works best alongside the people who know and care for you, not in place of them.

What PCGA cannot do

PCGA can help you reflect, read Scripture and pray, but it has real limits.

  • It does not provide medical, psychological, psychiatric, legal or emergency diagnosis, treatment or professional advice.
  • It does not replace a pastor, physician, counselor, therapist or other qualified professional.
  • It is an AI tool, not a person. It knows only what you tell it, and it is not a spiritual authority.
  • It may make mistakes, including incomplete or inaccurate information.

You remain responsible for how you use what PCGA suggests. Weigh its responses carefully, including their consistency with Scripture and your Christian convictions, and seek appropriate human help when you need it.

PCGA is meant as one part of the many ways we build deeper relationships with Christ, alongside caregiving and personal study.

Who may use PCGA

PCGA is for adults 18 and older.

A young person under 18 may take part only together with a parent or legal guardian. The parent or guardian must be present for the whole conversation and takes responsibility for it. A young person under 18 may not use PCGA alone.

What happens to your information

If you need urgent help

PCGA is not an emergency or crisis service. If you or another person may be in immediate danger, may harm yourself or someone else, or needs urgent medical or mental-health assistance, call emergency services in your location. In the United States, call or text 988 for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. Do not wait for a PCGA response.
